ENGLAND V. NEW ZEALAND
TO-MORROW'S BIG MATCH TEAMS DUE IN AUCKLAND INSURANCE AGAINST RAIN The Auckland Cricket Association was officially advised on Tuesday that members of the New Zealand cricket team to part in the second test match against England at Eden Park to-morrow would arrived in Auckland yesterday morning. Consequently, some officials and others met the limited express yesterday, only to be disappointed. The New Zealand team, however, will arrive by the limited this morning, accompanied by officials of the New Zealand Cricket Council. r lho team will stay at the Central Hotel.
The New Zealanders will practise at Eden Park to-day and tho team for tomorrow's match will probably bo selected this evening. Thirteen players have been chosen, but there is a doubt about Vivian and Badcock being able to take tho field, both having suffered injuries in tho first test at Christchurch.
Tho English team will arrive from Rotorua at 11 p.m. and, in spite of the lateness of the hour, thero is bound to be a largo crowd present to give tho famous cricketers a rousing welcome. Tho visitors will be met by officials of the Auckland Cricket Association and will be driven to Hotel Cargen, which will be their headquarters until their departure by the Aorangi on Tuesday next. Iho English team for tho test is not likely to be known until to-morrow morning.
Booking for the match has been very steady and a !ato rush is expected to-day. j Several country orders for seats indicate that outside districts are going to be well represented at Eden Park. The New Zealand Council has taken the precaution of insuring the gates for the first two days against rain. It is understood that the sum of £SOO will bo paid by the insurance company if 10 points of rain fall on either day within any four hours stipulated by the Cricket Council. This precaution on the part of tho cricket authorities proved a wise one in connection with the opening game of tho Englishmen's New Zealand tour. There was no play on the first day of the match between England and Wellington and, as 19 points of rain fell between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., tho time fixed by the council, the sum of £SOO was recovered.
