THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE SOUTH BRITISH ACTIVE The market for investment shares was Irioro active, on (he Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Firm inquiry continued for Government loans, but very limited supplies were available. Buyers operated steadily in banks. Australasias firmed Is on sale at £lO 8s 6d. Commercials of Australia were done a tliade weaker at 14s Id, but there was little movement in other Australian issues. New Zealands were secured unaltered at 445. There was marked activity in South British Jnsurance, on which an unchanged interim dividend has been announced. Support opened a shade easier than on the previous"day at 62s 3d, but a strengthening movement developed subsequently, three transactions 3d better at 63s being followed by a final deal at 63s 3d. l'or more holders asked 63s 6d, inquiry closing firm •at 635. Late rates woe realised for New Zealands, and after sale at 48s more were available at- that figure. Support was steady fur loan and agency. New Zealand Guarantee's were placed unaltered at 5s 6d. In coals the only movement was in Taupiris, which were traded unchanged at 13s 3d. A strong demand developed for breweries. Some satisfaction vas received in New Zealands, which .were unaltered on sale at 27s 3d. Steady conditions also existed in miscellaneous investments. Practically no movement- occurred in the leading Australian industrials, which had continued support. The B preference issue of Farmers' Tradings changed hands at 5s Bd, a rise of 3d. In mining Waihis had sale unaltered at 225, support closing a little firmer than on the previous day. Two parcels of Nokonicis were placed a penny better at 5s 7d.
