PRESENTATIONS

A large and representative gathering of settlers assembled in tho Public Hall, Maungakara'mea, to farewell Mr. and Mrs. A. ~R. Spinley and family, on tho evo of their departure for Henderson. Mr. Spinlev lias been postmaster at Maungakaramea during the past eight and a-half years. On behalf of the settlers of the' district Mr. T. O'Carroll presented Mr. and Mrs. Spinloy with a silver tea set and expressed tho great regret of all at their departure. Mr. G. Winnard, of the Whangarei post office, who succeeded Mr. Spinley as postmaster, took over his new duties yesterday. On Monday evening he was presented by his fellow officers with a tea service.
