PONSONBY SIDE SCHOOL

NO IMMEDIATE CLOSING An appeal against the Auckland Education Board's decision to close the Ponsonby side school was made yesterday by Mr. 11. A. Hew, who said there was now a good possibility of. the present attendance of 39 being increased substantially in tho near future. The chairman, Mr. T. U. Wells, said tho decision to close the school had been justified for economy reasons, there being two assistants for the 39 children. Tho board agreed to take no further action until the end of the year, when the position is to lie reviewed. In the meantime, one teacher is to have charge of the school, which is for young children.
