FINAL EPSOM TRIALS

BRENTLIGHT IN FORM GOOD DASH BY REALTY AUTO MACHINE'S CONDITION 13V ABAYDOS The dirt track at Epsom was in good order vesterday morning for the final work-outs 1y candidates for Thames. A useful two , r'ileii by Auto Machine and good efforts t. or a mile and a-lialf by Breiitliglit, Realty mid Silver Bingen were the chief features ' ■ ( the trials. Bventlight (R. D Kennerley) conceded 1 • liver Thorpe three seconds start and o i I ,'uting over a mile and a-hnlf, which he , i n in 3.-21 3-5. Oliver Thorpe went away ' r,t, but after passing the quarter-mile i ost tangled and lost his position. Left in ■ out Brentlight loafed in the middle stages, 1 .it when joined by Oliver Thorpe on the : ?ml circuit, put more daeh into his work, i i eiftering 1 5 3 5 for the last half. If he id been kept up to his task all the way would have put up a much smarter peri'i rninncc. Kennerley has him in excellent l.cart. i Oliver Thorpe's lapse was caused through one of his knees on the turn, and r:ter (lie incident he took some time to settle to his work in earnest. Over the final < reuil he paced soundly and finished his t.'sk in 3.23. Jester (E S. Croat) bes.in two lengths in f ont of Silver Bingen (R. D. Kennerley) and Realty (M. S Groat) left four seconds i fter the leader, for a mile and a-half task, ."fister led to the mile in 2.2;),. which post Realty reached in 2.19 3-5. Silver Bingen headed Jester in the straight, and Realty, finishing with his customary dash, was elongside at the post, running his last half in 1.0. Silver Bingen's Display Realty went sluggishly for the first hnlfn'.ilo. but, warming to his work on the second lap. paced soundly to register 2.14 3-5 fur the last mile. lie ib in great order. Silver Bingen cave a fine display, and ran tho journey in 3.28, coming home strongly in 1.6 3-5 for the final section. He hung on remarkably well when tackled by Realty and has made good progress since racing last month. Jester worked in his usual good track style, to register 3.30 for the full distance. and 1.7 for the last half. When passed by his speedier rivals he battled on solidly. If he would race up to track form he would have good prospects in his present class. Auto Machine (A. Brown), accompanied by Min Bells (T. M Robertson), ran two miles in easy fashion in 4.45. The first mile occupied 2.2G, and the pace was not increased until the final lap, when Auto Machine, under a pull, ran the last half in 1.8. He has never looked in better condition and in spite of his big handicap should be dangerous in the Cup. Min Bells did not pace kindly in thn early stages, but displayed better form when the speed was increased over the last circuit. She bears n bright appearance and should soon be ready to show improved racing form. Student Prince ' (H. Kinnimont) went away three seconds ill front of Prince Etawah (R. A. Shepherd) for a mile and a-quarter run. Student Prince wbb still in the lend at six furlongs in 1.4 G. and hung on to finish on terms in 2.55. Prince Etuwah registered 2.52, and came home the final half nicely in 1.7. Student Prince still looks a trifle on the big aide, and should improve with racing. Nellota (L. Mitchell) ran a mile and a-half at on even clip in 3.34, but did not display her usual dash at the finish. The three-year-old. who is entered for the second day at Thames, is suffering from a cold. Great Fame (A. T Newdiok) and Fisher (A. Patten) worked a steady two miles in 4.54.- There wns not much speed on in tho early part, but the last six furlongs were covered at ft 2.20 gait. Glandore Reappears Colleen Murphy (K Morrison) gave an improved display of trotting over a mile and a-half in 3.45. When going solidly Colleen Murphy has a good style of -trotPeter Abdallah (G. Webb) showed a 2.29 gait while working a mile and five furi longs, and he gave a useful display of i trotting. He is on the improve. ; Peter Grattan (E. S. Groat) and Gold ! Senm (W. Willetts) were given sound un- : hoppled work, but were not on a time- ' making mission. Both look bright, but lack of racing for several seasons will be against Peter Grattan. D-urk McKinney, who was recently sold by R. D. Kennerley to a Katikati resident, is back on the tracks, having been placed in E. S. Groat's stable. Glandore made a reappearance on the tracks yesterday. He has been on the easy list since the Inst 'Auckland meeting, and haß put on a lot of surplus flesh. , Kelp and Pearl Parrish were restricted to walking exercise on the centre of the course. Kennerley has decided not to take this pair to Thames and Te Aroha, but they will be given a preparation for later meetings on the circuit. TAKANINI TRACK-WORK FOULWIND AND CHERRY KING REREATU'S SIX FURLONGS Conditions for training operations at Tokanini ye»terday were excellent and there was more activity than last week. The inside grass and the plough were used for fast W On" the grass Imperial Prince (Taylor) had a slight advantage over 1 rinpipal (Jones) at the end of six furlongs in 1.18. .both horsea are in good heart and will J nave more schooling work in the near '"(Jreek Gold (Taylor) and Exaggeration ! (t'earn) broke away m front at Holly ±>u nnd beat him over half a mile in 50 2-58. All three worked nicely, witn Greek tioia pleasing most. Ho has come Wirough ills recent racing in good style. The Catmint—Miss Melva gelding finished his work with two furlonfes in 20 4-sb. 1 his gelding is a good type and is being worked by his owner, Air. vv'allen. Tatyoon ((Jliiford) went off rather slowly at the six furlongs, but was running on well ut tiie end of his work to finish in 1.16 8-5. ij;3 condition in good and he is a likely visitor to Wliangftrei. Foulwind (Foisyth) was going better than Cherry King (Manson) at the end of hair a mile in 49 2-sk. Foulwind worked very nicely and Cherry Kiiig, with the worst of ii'o weights, also pel formed satisfactorily, ilie time comparing with all o;her gallops during the morning. Rereatu (Forsyth) hit out freely while running six furlongs in 1.15 4-5. This colt hits not yet done as well in public us his track work suggests he should, x but he 19 ciiiiahle of going with most of his age if in the humour. . , Armutum (Grice) strode over a circuit nt a solid pace, running the last five furlongs in 1 9 2-5. She is not brilliant on the tracks, hut her good showing at Pukekohe will C !.V«e her to be considered at Wllfitigarei.
