INDICATIONS OF A CHANG®

The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—An anti-evdonv extends from the northern Tasman Sea across New Zealand to beyond Chatham Islands, but a, deep depression is now 10. cated over south-eastern Australia and the western Tasman. Indications are for moderate southerly winds at first in the far north; otherwise freshening north-wester-lira prevailing, rising later to eale force in places. Seas becoming rough south of Cape Egmont and about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere smooth ! to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: North to north-west winds, moderate but freshening in the northern portion and strong to gale force in the southern portion; seas becoming rough. Weather fine generally at first with rising temperatures; becoming unsettled soon, however, in district® with a westerly aspect with rain setting in, heavy falls being likely in Westland and the far south.
