PETROL PUMP RENTAL#
REQUEST FOR REDUCTION
[from our own correspondent] HAMILTON. Thursday Application was made to the Hamilton Borough Council last evening by four business firms to have the present rental of £lO for kerbside petrol pumps reduced: It was pointed out by one applicant that legislation passed to enforce the reduction of rent charges had not so far affected . petrol, pumps. One local body in the district had already decided to reduce the >"■ charge from £5 5s to £3 3s. The matter was referred to the Legal and Finance Committee. The Local Government Loans Board wrote acknowledging receipt of application for the sanction of a renewal loan of * £9OOO, and advised that the matter was receiving consideration. Objection to a proposal to erect a dance hall and cabaret near the main post office was received from a ratepayer who contended the building would depreciate her property and would cause annoyance to her tenants. In moving that the letter be received, the Mayor said the objection did not directly concern the council.
