THEFT OF TOOLS

PROBATION FOR BOOTMAKER

The theft of a quantity of tools, Valued at. £4 10s, tho property of the Auckland City Mission, was admitted by a young man, William John Eowe, in the Police Court yesterday. It was stated by Detective-Sergeant. McIlugh that accused, who was a bootmaker, had stolen the tools from tho mission's workshop, which he had been permitted to use. Most of the tools had been recovered. "Accused is not, really a bad fellow—ho is just weak." remarked the city missiorier, the Rev. Jasper Calder. The magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, admitted accused to probation for two years.
