DESTROYING RAGWORT

THE MANUKAU COUNTY PROMPT ACTION TO BE TAKEN A decision to take' prompt action to eradicate ragwort from the district of the Manukau County Council was made at a meeting of tho council yesterday. The chairman, Mr. F. LI. Waters, presided. Mr. J. Luke said the matter was one of the' greatest urgency. If the seed were allowed to spread this season it. would extend on to properties which were free from it. Ratepayers should be shown the best way to combat the nuisance; he was of opinion that many did not even know how to recogniso the noxious weed when they saw it. It was decided to provide £IOO to combat the ragwort nuisance, and that the engineer should bring down a full report on tho matter at the' earliest opportunity. A committee was set up to take immediate action.
