THEATRE SEASON CLOSES
COMPANY'S The esteem in which Dame Sybil Thorndike and her company is held by Auckland audiences was demonstrated on Saturday evening at the conclusion of the performance of "Madame Plays Nap," which brought to a closo a successful season. Insistent applause brought the curtain up time and again, and it was obvious that the audience would not bo satisfied until Dame Sybil had spoken. In a charming and very sincere little speech, on behalf of herself and the players, she thanked her Auckland audiences for their appreciation, stating that it had been a joy and a delight to appear before them. Dame Sybil's husband, Mr. Lowis Casson, also expressed his appreciation of the reception given the company in Auckland. Actors, he said, were often asked which town they liked tho best, and he and the other members of the company had no hesitation in putting Auckland at the top of tho list.
