KING'S SCHOOL
PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY ADDRESS BY HEADMASTER "In spite of the financial stress which has prevailed for so long, I am clad, to say that our roll for 1932 showed an increase of 15 over that for the previous year, and that our numbers at the beginning of 1 his year show an increase of 10 over those for thq corresponding period of 1932," said the Rev. J. M. Beaufort, headmaster of King's School, Remuera, when presenting the report for the year 1932, at the prize-giving ceremony in the Remuera Library yesterday afternoon. The function was postponed from last year owing to a slight epidemic of mumps in tho school. Mr. John Makgill, president of the Board of Governors, presided at tho meeting. "I feel confident that if times were better, many more parents would send their boys as boarders, for the general effect of regular .hours, regular exercise, good and healthy meals and the necessary discipline of continually rubbing shoulders with their fellows is the very best kind of training a boy can receive,"' said Mr. Beaufort. "The result of too much liborty being allowed to anv boy is detrimental; he cannot but suffer in the long run. Although young, growing boys are permitted, not infrequently, to bo out late on two or three nights in tho week, high places in form are still expected. Tho boy is handicapped and we simply cannot fight against this. It is in anything but the boys' interests. An address was given to the boys bv Archbishop Avcrill, who also presented the scholastic prizes, while Mrs. Avcrill presented tho sports trophies.
