LONG VOYAGE BY LAUNCH
MR, ZANE GREY'S FRANGIPANI The commencement of the voyage from Auckland to Papeete, via Rarotonga is to be made by the Auckland-bnilt launch Frangipani at the end of this month. She was built for Mr. Zane Grey, and has been used by Mr. Groy and his party at Mercury Bay during the past few weeks. The vessel is 46 feet long and has a beam of 12ft. Gin. and has proved herself to be a particularly good sc;v boat. It is estimated that the Frangipani will bo ready for sea in about 10 days. She will head for Avarua, Rvotonga, when sho leaves Auckland, the distance, to the island port being 1633 miles.. After refuelling and provisioning at Avarua the launch will set out for Papeete, 620 miles distant. The Frangipani will be under the charge of Mr. Peter Williams, of Russell, who has been Mr. Zane Grey's principal boatman on his several fishing trips to New Zealand and accompanied him to Tahiti a year or two ago.
