LEWIS CARROLL
A COLLECTION OF VERSE Lovers of Lewis Carroll—they are a host without number—probably remember him best by his poems, scattered in " Alice " and " Through the LookingGlass." kittle snatches of these are forever coming to mind and slipping off the tongue. " Jabberwocky," of course, is hard to recall in full, but even this has unforgettable lines, and " How Doth " and "Father William'" and " The Mock Turtle's Song " and " Alice's Recitation " furnish many a household word. Yet few can repeat the dedication to " Wonderland " or get safely through all V The Walrus and the Carpenter," and even those enthusiasts for their beloved author have only a nodding acquaintance with much else he wrote, mingling fun and philosophy, in blithe verse. To have a full collection of his poems, Including eleven not - printed before, four only privntelv printed, and about a score of others that appeared in books now out of print, is therefore a boon. It is excellently printed and has all the wonderful illustrations of Sir John Tenniel, Arthur Frost, I-lenry Holiday, Harry Furniss and the Rev. C. L. Dodgson himself. No small volume either—44o pages of classic merriment and musing. " The Collected Verse of Lewis Carroll," (Macmillan and Co., London.). {
