LANDING ON BEACH
CHARGES AGAINST PILOTS ALLEGED DANGER TO PERSONS [by TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] WELLINGTON. Friday Two pilots who landed aeroplanes at the Faraparunm Beach during the New Year holidays, James Cane, of Masterton, and Alan Victor Jury, of Greytown, were charged before Mr. E. Page, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court to-day with flying in such a manner as to cause unnecessary danger to persons congregated on the beach. Mr. W. E. Leicester, who appeared for the two defendants, said that they were both members of the Wairarapa Aero Club and were charged with a breach of the Air Navigation Act, 1931. Following the alleged offences defendants were notified by telegram from the Director of Air Services that their licences were suspended pending an inquiry by the department. In view of the fact that an inquiry was to bo held and that the Diroctor of Air Services had very extensive powers, counsel asked that the case should be adjournod until after the inquiry. The matter was one of considerable importance to the two young men, counsel said, and it might be prejudicial to thein to have the Court case hoard before the inquiry. The magistrate agreed to an adjournment for three weeks.
