FOUR DROWNED TRAGEDY NEAR ADELAIDE BATHERS CARRIED AWAY WAVES AND UNDERTOW MANY GALLANT RESCUES By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received January 30, 10.25 p.m.) ADELAIDE. Jan. SO Four people were drowned in South Australia's worst surfing tragedy at Port Noarlunga, about 20 miles from Adelaide, to-day. Seven others Tfad remarkable escapes. Those drowned are:— C. Bowen, aged 25. Bay Kennedy, aged 23. Mavis Dodd, aged 14. Daphne Dodd, aged 10. A party was surfing near the entrance to the Oakaparinga River, when huge waves and a strong undertow carried the bathers out. Life-savers and onlookers effected gallant rescues. The father of the Dodd sisters rescued a third daughter and a son.
