ASCENT OF MOUNT COOK
TIMARU CLIMBER'S SUCCESS

A successful ascent of Mount Cook has been made by Mr. A. J. Rea, of Timaru, with Guides Joe Cox and R. Gibson. The party proceeded by the Linda route. Leaving the 1 Haast Hut, the ascent was made in excellent weather. Wonderful views were obtained from the summit, although on the descent heavy mist and rain impeded visibility. The climb was made in 18 hours.
