SEAMAN CHARGED
MAN FROM THE DIOMEDE HANDED TO NAVAL COURT Appearing on a charge of breaking and entering the house of A. L. George, llardinge Street, by day, and stealing £1 10s in money, Walter dolui Clues, the young seaman who is alleged to have deserted from the Diomede and who later broke from the Thames' lock-up, was claimed by the naval authorities when he appeared in the Police Court yesterday.
It was staled that if he eoidd be deall with by the Naval Court on the desertion charge, he could later have the theft charge brought against him by the police. A lieutenant from the Diomede said that it' convicted of desertion accused would probably receive 90 days' imprisonment and would be discharged from the service. "As long as the naval authorities see that ho does not break away again, we are willing to .hand hint over," said Detect ive-Sergdant Mat tin. Accused was remanded for a week, and n naval escort later look him to the Diomede.
