FAIR AND WARMER
The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— A moderate high barometric pressure system covers the southern portion of the Dominion, while an extensive tropical depression is moving on to the northern Tasman Sea. Indications favour fair to fine weather generally, with very warm temperatures. Variable and moderate breezes, easterly to north-easterly prevailing. Seas smooth to moderate. Local outlook: Fair and warmer. Barometer, midnight, rising . . 30.151n, Midnight, Tu(sday .. .. 30.18 in. Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 80deg.; minimum 67deg. GOVERNMENT REPORT The Government, meteorologist reported last evening as follows The depression in south-eastern Australia has deepened and moved south .vard somewhat, but a moderate anti-cvclone still covers the Tasman Sea and New Zealand. Indications are for variable winds, mainly light to moderate, south-easterlies prevailing north of Kawhia and Napier, elsewhere southerlies. Seas smooth to moderate generally with a southerly swell on the east coast. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate south to east winds and smooth to moderate seas. Weather fine almost generally with warm day but moderate night teriiperatmres. Some scattered showers are likely in the far north and north-cast.
