NORTHERN COAL MINES
PROPOSED AGREEMENT MEN'S VIEW NOT NOTIFIED The decision of tho members of the Northern Miners' Union regarding the agreement reached between their delegates and the Northern coal mine owners has not yet been made officially known to the owners.
Tho agreement, mado after a conference which lasted two days, was that the present wages and conditions should continuo for a further 12 months. The men's delegates recommended tho members of tho union to accept these terms, and stopwork meetings liavo been held to consider tho position. Tho men continue to work.
DISMISSALS AT HUNTL-Y "NOT SUFFICIENT WORK" Tho announcement from Huntly that 69 employees at tho Glen Afton and Mac Donald coal mines were to receive notice of dismissal was referred yesterday to Mr. C. M. Riclnvhite, director of Glen Afton Collieries, Limited. Ho stated that this courso had been taken as there was not sufficient work for all tho men at present engaged.
