HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST FAIR TO CLOUDY The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied Iry Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening; 'iropical influences are now the controlling weather factor over the whole of Australia, the Tasman l3ea, and New Zealand. A very severe cyclone is moving on to the western Tasman Sea from southeast Australia. Mainly fair to fine weather is indicated over the Dominion in the meantime, but scattered thundcr-shower3 are likely in northern and western districts. Easterly to north-easterly winds moderate to strong, prevailing and freshening. A considerable swell on the East Coast of the North Island, smooth (o moderate seas on the Wes; Coast. Local outlook: Fair to cloudy, with warm and ' humid conditions. Unsettled at times, with a tendency for,, an occasional shower, especially in the- aflernocn, and particularly in the western suburb). GOVERNMENT REPORT The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows .-—Extensive cyclonic depressions cover the interior of Australia, hut a. moderate anti-cyclone extends from the Tasma.n Sea on to NewZealand, the pressure being highest to the south. Indications are for fresh east to north-easterly winds in the Far North elsewhere light to modejtfte and variable winds, with southerlies prevailing. Seas smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light southerly winds and smootli to moderate seas. The -weather for the most part will be fine, with a warm day, but moderate night temperatures. Scattered showers are likely, however, in North Auckland and between Hawke's Bay and East Capo, although mainly in the'hills.
