ROUND OF FESTIVITIES FIREWORKS DISPLAY AT NIGHT [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] NAPIER, Tuesday The Napier Carnival continues to provide a good round of festivities for the numerous visitors to the town and its residents. Day by day fresh pleasures are enjoyed in a blaze of sunshine. k To-day's activities were a bowling tournament, the official opening of France House at Eskdale by the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, who was accompanied by the Lady Bledisloe, community singing and a children's afternoon, during which competitions and a fancy dress procession were the principal events. The evening's functions comprised a swimming carnival, entertainments and a fireworks display on Marine Parade. Great enthusiasm was displayed in the various events by the citizens, who have responded /in a magnificent mariner to an appeal to make the proceedings worth while.* The opening of France House at Eskdale was attended by a largo number of residents of the district and Napier. The home is a charitable institution for the care of boys. It was reconstructed following upon its destruction by the earthquake.
