RESERVE FOR SPORTS
AREA AT PAPAKURA PERMANENT CONTROL SOUGHT An attempt to have the area near the Papakura railway station, known as the Railway Reserve, and used for many years as a sports ground, permanently secured for sports purposes, is being made by the Papakura Town Board. At a meeting of the boarc: on Monday evening it was decided to write to Mr. J. N. Massey, M.P. for Frnnklin, with a view to obtaining his support in the matter. The reserve, which is an area of about 17 acres, is owned by the Railway Department, br.t was controlled by the Papakura Town Board until a month or two ago, when the department resumed possession. The greater part of the reserve i» level ground, well grassed and always, even in winter, firm and dry. The football ground on it was regarded as the best in the South Auckland district.
