VALUE OF DIETITIAN
COOKING AT HOSPITAL INVESTIGATION PROPOSED The subject of the appointment of a dietitian at the Auckland Hospital was discussed in committee at a meeting of the Hospital Board yesterday. The House Committee reported that the preparation of a schedule of duties for a dietitian had been considered, but the committee was of the opinion that, before considering the appointment of a dietitian or dietsupervisor to act as a link between the wards and the kitchen, it was desirable to engage a first-class chef
Mr. E. H. Potter, referring to the committee's opinion, said an improvement was essential in the kitchen facilities at the hospital, which had frequently been criticised.
The board referred the subject to the House Committee, which was given power to act in regard to calling for applicants for the position, if the system ruling at the hospital were found not to be satisfactory.
The board also received a report from the lady superintendent, Miss A. Nutsey, dealing with the methods of supplying food in the wards at the Christchurch Hospital,, to which Miss Nutsey was recently sent to study the system.
