TAR-SEALING OF ROAD

TE AROHA TO WAIHOU WORK TO BE COMMENCED [BI TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT] TE AROHA, Monday The Piako County Council was informed to-day that the Main Hipfhways Board has authorised the reconstruction and sealing with one coat of bitumen that part of the main highway between Waihou and Te Aroha, a distance of five miles.

Mr. W. C. Kennedy, whose riding is concerned, said he would oppose any expenditure that would involve a loan or an increase in the rates. The clerk stated that the Wailiou Riding's account was in credit to the extent of about £ISOO. With the assistance promised by the Government to farmers, no difficulty would be experienced in collecting the rates, which would mean an addition to the funds in hand of about £2400. The chairman, Mr. W. R. Lowry, moved that the work of construction and sealing be proceeded with. The motion was carried.
