AUCKLAND CLUB'S MATCHES The fresh right,-hand breeze which waa subject to shaj:p changes in both direction and velocity caused marksmen considerable trouble at Penrose on Saturday. The Auckland City Defence Club fired over 800yda and 900 yds in continuance of its championship series. Missis were recorded by fiftvn out of nineteen competitors. A. G. Desenkolbe made top score for both grades with 44—49, a total cf 93. Degenkolbe registered a miss at -sach range, but these were fortunately an optional sighter on each occasion. C. J. M. Clark won the A grade with 92, a very fine performance under the trying conditions. Silver spoons were won by C. J. M. Clark and A. G. Degenkolbe. C. J. Robieson won the A grade trophy, while the B grade fell to A_ G-. Degenkolbe. Scores off the rifle were:— A Grade.—C.. if. M. Clark, 47 at 800 yds. 45 at 900 yds, total 92; H. Simmondg. 40. 45—S8; F. Members of the Paeroa Defence Rifle Club fired the third ,-shoot of the first round of the Championship Cup and handicap aggregate competition on Saturday ranees of SOOyds and 300 yds. The light was not good and there was a tricky wind. Following wero the scores: —H. A. Morrison. 800 yds, 46. 900 yds. 49. total, 91; F. C. Hubbard, 43. 4G—B9; P. R. Hubbard, 44. 38—82: H. Follas, 41, 34—75; R. I. .Wells. 40. 34—71.
