WELL - KNOWN AUCKLAND HARBOUR BEACON LIFTED FOR OVERHAUL YESTERDAY: # THE WHITE LIGHT BUOY IN RANGITOTO CHANNEL REPLACED The Rangitoto Channel white light buoy, together with its moorings, was lifted yesterday and replaced by a similar buoy. This picture shows the old buoy being lifted frpm the sea and the new one afloat alongside. The work of replacing the buoy has not been carried out since 1927. The new buoy will be left in position for a similar period.
