OBITUARY

MRS. J. G. POWDRILL The death of Mrs. J. G. PowdriU has occui-red at Onehunga. Mrs. Powdrill was born at Warboys, Huntingdon, in 1860, and arrivod, in Auckland by the ship Famnoth in 1882. She was married on January 22, 1883, and died just two days prior to the jubilee of her wedding day. Mr.- and Mrs. Powdrill went to live at Warkworth 50 years ago, where Mr. Powdrill was engaged by Wilsons Portland Cement, Limited. Mr. Powdrill served there for 25 years, ,and later took up land in the Dome Valley. Retiring from active life eight years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Powdrill removed to Onehunga, where the latter was a prominent member of the Congregational Church. Mrs. Powdrill is survived by eighfr sons and three daughters, Messrs. George A. Powdrill, of Great North Road, Auckland, Thomas Powdrill, of Avondale, John W. Powdrill, Te Kuiti, Richard .Powdrill, Otahuhu, Reginald and Roy Powdrill, Mangere Norman Powdrill, Hamilton, Arthur Powdrill, Kopaki, Mrs. Thorpe, Swanson, Mrs. Yearbury, Matakana, and Mrs. Claydcn, Warkworth. . AIR. E. H. TREMAIN , Tho death occurred on Saturday of Mr. Edwin Harvey Tremain, of Grey Lynn, chief engineer of tho Northern Roller Milling Company, Limited, Mr. Tremain, who. Was born in Auckland in 1859, was apprenticed in engineering to tho late Mr. T. T. Masefield and joined the engineering department of the Northern Roller Milling Company in 1886. When the old method of milling wheat with\ grinding stones Was revolutionised with the introduction of the use of rollers, Mr. Tremain, assisted in the erection, for the lato Mr. J. C. Firth, of the first roller plant to be used in Auckland. Mr. Tremain is survived by his wife, a son, Mr. Norman Tremain, and two daughters, Mrs. H. McLeod and Mrs. J. T. D. Lloyd, all residents of Auckland. There are several grandchildren. A «on was killed in the Great War.
