REVIEW OF THE TRADE

FIRMER TONE IN LONDON

LONDON, Jan. M

The London representative of the Australian Council, Mr. W. P. Devereux, reports The London wool sales continue active and the opening improvement shows a hardening tendency, withdrawals being negligible. Bradford reports a good undertone, but business is quiet. Merino topmakers are maintaining quotations, but there are few transactions although the business offering is below the quoted prices. Crossbred tops are firm and there is some business in fine and medium sorts.: Yarns are firm, but business is umall. There is rather more inquiry for- Merinos and the outlook is rather brighter. Crossbreds are firm but .quiet.
