CHALLENGE FROM. UNION In an effort to settle the argument that has been waging for some time over tbe success of the various" methods of killing and preparing stock for export, v the secretary of the Freezing Works and Related Trades' Union, Mr. H. C. Revell, has issued a challenge to the employers to pit a team of union slaughtermen against, » team of iheir workers on the chain system. It is suggested that the teams should consist of from 15 to 20 men, or of solo workers to a number equivalent to tn« employers' chain gang, and that the competition should be judged by men competent to give an opinion on the efficiency of the respective systems. The challenge has been issued as a result of the assertion made at a meeting this week of t North Canterbury Centre of the New land Farmers' Union to the effect sheep were being better handled by me under the chain system of killing tna under the system that prevailed prior W the dispute..
