MOTOR MECHANIC FINED
DANGEROUS DRIVING MISHAP NARROWLY AVERTED [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] "WHANGAREI, Monday Charged with dangerous driving and being in charge of a motor-car having faulty brakes, Stewart Byrne pleaded guilty before Messrs. E. L. Whimp and C. H. Chissell, J.P.'a, in the Police Court to-day. Senior-Sergeant Powell said accused turned the corner of Aubrey' and Bank Streets at a speed of 27 miles an hour and very nearly had a serious accident. Mr. E. Harrison, for accused, said the speed was 15 to 20 miles an hour. Accused was a njotor mechanic and an experienced driver. The justices said the fact that accused was a practical motor engineer aggravated the. case.
On tho first charge accused was convicted and fined £2 and costs, 10s. On the second charge he was convicted and discharged.
