HOURS OF LABOUR
GENEVA CONFERENCE SHORTER WEEK DISCUSSED GENEVA, Jan. 13 The British workers' representative at Geneva, Mr. Heyday, speaking at the Shorter Hours' Conference of the International Labour Bureau, stated that concerted world action was necessary regarding the 40-hour week proposal. The consequences would be staggering if tho world's 120,000,000 unemployed were told that the only solution to their trouble was their maintenance by the employed workers. The latter would not submit to further reductions in wage«. M. Gerald, representing Belgian employers, contended that production must be maintained at all costs. A reduction of hours would be. valueless and dangerous.
