KUMEU

Father Christinas gladdened the hearts of about 150 children when he visited the Kumeu Hall on Monday evening. Before the arrival of the honoured guest a programme was submitted by tho pupils of the Huapai School. Concerted items, part songs and recitations by Shirley Duncan, June Lambden, Peggy and Brian Cole, Hector AlcKenzie and John Bockman were much enjoyed. Airs. Wardle delighted the audience with a sketch, entitled "The Inventor's Wife." Aliss Hoare acted as accommpariist. With a great blast and rousing cheers, Santa Claus arrived and presented gifts fro pi the tree laden with toys and festooned with fairy lights and tinsel. When the toys, sweets and balloons had been distributed Father Christmas made a happy little speech to the children, telling them how grateful they should be to all those responsible for such a happy party, especially the committee, Mesdames Alilligen, Davis, Dane, Garry and Alartin. He then invited all the. children to attend the ratepayers and institute picnic at Brown's Bay on Boxing Day. The children sang heartily "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow," after which supper was served to all present.
