SUGGESTED CONFERENCE IDEA NOT FAVOURED LONDON. Dec. 5 In the House of Commons, Mr. J. S. AVardlaw-Milne (Conservative Kidderminster) asked: "As settlement of the Empire currency question would probably promote a solution of international financial difficulties, will the Chancellor of the Exchequer summon an Empire Conference to arrive at a settled basis of exchange, facilitating and promoting the flow of Empire produce ?" Hie Financial Secretary to (he TreaE 'ny, Mr. L. llore-Belisha, replied that lie had nothing to add to Mr. MacDonald's reply to Mr. P. A. llurd (Conservative—Devizes) on November 28, when the Prime Minister had indicated
that he had no reason to suppose that another Imperial Conference would be welcomed in any part of the Empire.
