COME TO AUCKLAND
CARNIVAL WEEK SCHEME SUPPORT FOR THE PROPOSAL Support for' a "Come to Auckland'* carnival week, proposed by the Junior Chamber of Commerce, was given at a meeting of representatives of city and suburban organisations, business firms and sports organisations held in the Chamber of Commerce Hall last evening. The president of the Junior Chamber, Mr. -V. G. Brown, presided and outlined the chamber's scheme, presenting a memorandum dealing tentatively with the raising of linance. Mr. H, Turner, vice-president of the Chamber of' Commerce, outlined tha senior body's attitude to the proposal, stating that the chamber considered thatthe carnival should not be held under its auspices, but under those of a special carnival committee. The chamber took the view that the proposal should not be advanced until finance was assured. It could make no fund,s available as a body, although individual members would give their support. After the meeting had recommended the junior chamber to proceed, with tha carnival, tho date for which has not been fixed, various suggestions to the organisers were put forward, while all those present agreed to canvass city business, houses.
