OBITUARY
MRS. ELIZABETH MADDERN [BY TEI/EGRAV\I—OWN TORRESPOXDENT] THAMES, Tuesday An old resident of Thames, Mrs. Elizabeth Madde.ru, died this morning, aged 71 years. Mrs. Maddern was born in Cornwall. and came to Thames in 1875. She married the late William Maddern in 1833. lie was for some years engaged in mining, but later took up carting. He died some years ago. Mrs. Maddern is survived by a sou and a daughter, both of whom live at Thames. MR, P. STEVENS [ry tei/egraph—OWN COrresvondent] I'ALMERSTON NORTH, Tuesday The death has occurred of Mr. Phillip Stevens, who was born at Poritua 82 years ago. Kor some years Mr. Stevens was engaged in farming and was afterward licensee of the Poriru.t Hotel. Later he took up a farm near Palnierston North. Mr. Stevens is survived by a family consisting of [Messrs. .T. K. Stevens, of Palmerstou North, 11. W. Stevejis, of Hastings, P. P. Stevens,- of Podding, E. M. Steven's, of Sydney, L. Stevens, of Feilding, Mrs. W. Hastie, of Feilding, and Mrs. R, Neill, of Wellington.
