INFECTIOUS DISEASES
LARGE INCREASE SHOWN MORE TUBERCULOSIS CASES A considerable increase in the number of cases of infectious diseases notified during November from the three health districts controlled from Auckland is shown compared with the figures for October. Last month 104 cases were notified, compared with 78 in October, 81 in September and 120 in August.
Diphtheria and tuberculosis were again the most prevalent diseases. 1 here were 19 diphtheria patients, compared with 25 in October, 20 in September and 39 in August. Tuberculosis cases accounted for 28 of the total, 23 patients being notified from the Central Auckland district. Tuberculosis cases numbered 21 in October, 22 in September and 25 in August. Ihere were 15 cases of scarlet fever, as against eight in each of the months of October and September and 17 in August. The Central Auckland districts' total number of notified cases was 58, compared with 42 in October and 45 iri September. Of last month's total there were 23 cases of tuberculosis, 12 of puerperal fever, nine of diphtheria and seven of scarlet fever. In the South Auckland's total o:: 42 cases there were 15 of enteric fever, 10 of diphtheria and seven of scarlet fever. The Thames-Tauranga, district's total was only four cases, as against 13 the previous month. There were two cases of tuberculosis and one each of scarlet fever and puerperal fever.
