WORK AT TE RAPA
BEAU IRISH GALLOPS WELL. RUBY DAWN AND"' "LIMEX TAUMARUNUI CANDIDATES [FROS:' our, owx correspondent] HAMILTON, Monday; A pleading effort was recorded bv Beau Irish (Conlsbro) at To Rapa on Saturday, when ])i! comfortably defeated Clmnji (Seifei't). with J?otoa- Xaul (linidy) some distance back, : at the end of five furlonss in 1.1.
AY iien iirst raced as a threo-year-old two seasons ago. Bean Irish displaced promiso but, ho went amiss and has only recently been tak-.-n tip again by A. P. Brady. Tie has mad.-; steady progress during the last fortnight and ' his latest track work- suggests that he will be ready to show somo foim shortly, It. is intended to race Beau Irish at the To Awamutu meeting, after which Ins' will probably go on to' Auckland for the last, two days of the summer meeting.
On the plough Ruby Dawn (N. Syme) easily accounted for Sinking Fund (To Wata) over fivo furlongs in 1.41. As a result of her recent racing Ruby Dawn is now more forward than she has been for some time, and should give a good account of herself when next started. Princess Bede (Long) ran five furlones nicely in 1.4 J. She has failed (o run prominently in her latest engagements but is looking wel'. and is likely to win at any time now. llhimmelli galloped tlvo furlongs in 1,5. upon whicli she could have easily improved. Valuation and Limex worked soundly together but were, not timed. Linjex appears to have benefited by her recent racing and may form one of A. Tinker's team for Taumanmui, Welcome Lu's Effort Welcome Lit (McMahon) was going better than Phenomenon (Goulsbro). with Desert tiro (To Wata) some distance away, at the conclusion of five furlongs in 1.4. Welcome Lu l\it out well and is looking better than she has for some time past. Tradesman, who was physicked after returning from Takapuna, has since been on the easy list. lie was brought to the track on Saturday but was not worked. He is freshening up nicely. Paganelli .and Holly Holm reappeared on Saturday after a brief • let-up following their trip to. Takapuna. It is probable that M. J,-Carrol's charges will do.their Christmas racing at Palnierston North. Whirlalong has accomplished only paco work since racing at the Waikato meeting, where her third on. short preparation was an encouraging effort. W. H. Pat-, terson doe 3 not propose to hurry her at present. A three-year-old filly by Whirlwind from Lady Penury has recently been taken in hand by W. IT. Patterson. The half-sister to Rosshiro and Mintage has plenty of size but is backward and will not bo ready for somo time. Condition of Trowbridgs Trowbridge was so lame' after winning the hurdle race on the second day of the Waikato meeting that a lengthy spell for her seemed likely. However, she threw off the lameness a few days later, and has since been working solidly on the road. If she stands up to her work Trowbridge will be raced at To Awaimilu and Ellerslie.
CruacHan was troubled vriili indisrestion for some time prior to the recent Waikato meeting. Be- lias since been physicked and seems to be thriving better lately.
Wilton has shown signs of improvement since he raced at the local meeting and ha 3 been infusing plenty of dash into his latest track work. . , L'Allegro was physicked after his two wins after the Waikato meeting, but he is again working regularly. He should be ready to race again at short notice. Ruby Da wn. Knhau, The Pullet and Sinking Fund are members of J. F. Tutchen's team who will probably make the trip to Taumarunui.
