THEFT OF FENCING POSTS
TWO YEARS' PROBATION [BV TET.EC.RAI'U —OWN CORRESPONDENT] "WITANGABEI, Mondny A plea of guilty was entered in the Polico Court to-day by Allan Beehre to a charge of stealing 50 fencing posts to the value of £5. the property of Arthur Edge. Mr. L. A. Johnson, for accused, said that accused had the right to tako firewood from the section, but not fencing posts, of which he took only 32. Counsel said lie was instructed by accused's father, who suggested a period of probation would be advisable in the son's interests and would be better than a fine or a short term of imprisonment. An application was made for suppression of the name.
Mr. G. N. Morris, S.M., said bo could not see why the name should be suppressed. If he suppressed the names of all boys with respectable parents it would create an unfair state of affairs. Accused was admitted to probation for two years. An order was made for a refund of the value of 32 posts at the rate of £lO per 100.
