POLICE RAID SEQUEL

ALLEGED GAMING HOUSE FOURTEEN MEN BEFORE COURT [BY TELEGRAPH—own correspondent] GISBORNE, Monday The police raided a house in Grey Street early yesterday morning and as a result 14 men were charged before Mr. P. H, Harper, S.M., in the Police Court this morning with breaches of the Gaming Act. Two men were charged with keeping a common gaming house and the remaining 12 with being found in a common gaming house. Upon their solicitor entering pleas of not guilty in respect of all the men charged Senior-Sergeant Wade applied for a remand until Friday to enable the case for the prosecution to be prepared. The magistrate granted the application and allowed bail. He also agreed to suppress the names of the accused in the meantime.
