"KINGDOM OF GOD"
CATHOLIC REPERTORY SOCIETY " The Kingdom of God ", by Sierra, the famous Spanish dramatist, will be presented by the Catholic Repertory Society, as its second production, in the Town Hall Concert Chamber on December 2 and 3. This play has recently, been produced both in London arid New York with tremendous success, and it was played in Sydney by a repertory society a few months ago. Notwithstanding the title, t!io theme is not merely religious, but touches- all aspects of life. Sister Gracia, a member of a lay order of sisters, is tho principal character. She is first seen moving with all the freshness and enthusiasm of youth among the querulous inmates of an old men's home; then a feu' years later ministering to wayward girls; and last, in middle age as the imperious Superior ruling an orphanage of vivid and rebellious youth. Each act is of exceeding beauty and full of action. Sierra does not gloss over tho hard realities of life, but uses them in the way of tho groat artist as the material of circumstance to develop and illustrate character. The play is of outstanding merit, and has great popular appeal. Mr. Gaston Mervale, the producer, speaks in high terms of the work put in by a cast which is of necessity lengthy, as, with one exception, the characters in each act do not appear in the other two acts.
