THRILL FOR YOUNG PRINCE
A ride on <\ motor fire engine ;it nearly 40 m.p.h. was a thrill enjoyed by the Grown Prince of Rumania in London d few weeks ago. Princess Helengp Prince Michael visited the headquarters * of the London Fire Brigade, They received by the chief officer, Mr. A. Bgfpf Dyer, who organised a display of fir® brigade work in the quadrangle. _Aftdj||| inspecting the fire-fighting appliances £ the Prince asked if he could go for rido on a fire engine. Permission granted, he was told to sound the stationsalarm heM. . vIn a moment tho doors were flung-optfjS| and tho fire escape dashed out, by the motor pump with the young l'iiac?>>; seated beside the driver. After the moto pump came the water tower. Speeding op to 30 or 40 miles an hour the fire went along Sputhwnrk Bridge slowed down, turned about and »£ea. to the station. . .-.jig!
