AUSTRALIAN TEAM
QUALITY OF TEST PLAYERS
MR. WARNER'S COMMENT
LONDON, Nov. 15
Tho Evening Standard's special correspondent with the English cricketers cables that the joint manager of the team, Mr. P. F. Warner, told him at Melbourne that Australia's test team in battle order would bo 60 per cent stronger than side.
" Because England beat South Australia and Victoria easily to say that she is a certainty for the ashes is a view I do not share," said Mr. Warner. It is ridiculous for London critics to describe Bradman as an idol with feet of clay because of his double failure at Peith. BARRACKERS REBUKED DEFENCE BY GILLIGAN LONDON, Nov. 10 Referring to the barracking of Jardine in Adelaide, the Daily Mail says it is time official action was taken when a "dead set" is made against the English captain for 110 real reason, but "only because he is not popular." It thinks an appeal for fair play by the Board of Control would be effective. A. E. It. Gilligan, in the News Chronicle, treats the barracking lightly. He says, " The barrackers are impartial. An experienced player learns to expect these kindly attentions, and wonders what is wrong when he does not get them. It is disastrous to betray one's feelings. Any suspicion of snobbery or class distinction quickly moves the barracker to wrath."
