MANY UNSOWN PLOTS
Out of 899 garden plots provided under {)ic Wellington unemployed scheme only ]92 have been sown and planted to date. Mr. J. G. MacKenzic, director of city reserves, 'at a recent meeting said that there seemed to he some hitch between the delivery of the forms to the men a „d the enforcing of the demand laid down by the Unemployment Board. I here had been eases where men had asked in, for two plots, but as far as he v.as concerned they had all l.een allocated. He \Z written to the Labour Department to take action of some kind. An official of the Labour Em can e\nl'iined that 439 men on relief had signed Storm consenting to 001, vat. pl.t. a ,ul 435 had not yet signed Already 215 men had taken some steps towaid cuHi vating their plots, and in addition ano her 224 had actually signed the form This left another 659 yet to bo deal with Relief work was to be terminated if no plots were cultivated.
