After a retirement of over four hours tho jury disagreed last evening in tn® case in which Arthur Baker, aged 25* was charged in the Hamilton Supremß Court with unlawful carnal knowledge 8 Hangatiki in October. Baker was a co ' o ' pan ion of William Ciorclon Stokes, who was found guilty on a similar charge. Baker was tried again to-day and. tn jury returned a verdict of guilty. • Mr. Justice Herdman treated Baker 1 the same way as lie had treated Stokes, by admitting him to probation for V s , years.
