A TITIRANGI ROAD
Sir, —Mr. Macandrcw nnd Mr. Atkinson have written about the scenic road proposed by Mr. Bishop, the chairman of tho Waitemata County Council, and the question of its cost and maintenance. -The project, about .which Titirangi ratepayers aro very much in the dark, is by v no moans popular in Titirangi. But there is another matter that has made the ratepayers, on the Kaurilands Estate exceedingly bitter, and that is tho disgraceful and dangerous condition of the road up beyond tho filter house. For years the counoil has demanded rates from the ratepayers along the road, and yet they have never spent a penny on it. If anyone who does not know the road will try to walk over it or to motor over it, especially after a night or a day of rain, they will agree that it is in a shocking state. 1 doubt if there is another road in the immediate neighbourhood of the city that is so bad or so dangerous. There are times, after rain, when it is a perfect nightmare to motor on it, and to walk is impossible for ladies. What has Mr. Bishop to say about it ? And what has the member for the riding to say about it? Is it not a matter of simple honesty that they should put it right and satisfy the ratepayers beforo taking up their time over a scenic road in the neighbourhood ? A Ratepayer.
