OPERATIONS WELL FORWARD LUCERNE FOR ENSILAGE [from our own correspondent] TAURANGA, Saturday Many splendid crops of lucerne have been cut and converted into ensilage during the past fortnight in tjio Otumoetai, Wairoa, and Te Puna districts. The harvesting of hay will commence within the next week or two. The planting of maize crop? is well forward, but is not yet completed. The acreage on Matakana and Motiti Islands and on the mainland will be much greater than last year. Crops of early potatoes arc looking well and digging has commenced. There is a splendid growth of grass all over the district, and herds are now at the maximum yield.
