RAILWAY STRIKE

6000 OUT IN INDIA POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION CALCUTTA, Nov. 3 A strike as been declared by 6000 men employed in the Madras and Southern Mahratta railway workshops at Perambur. It is possible that it will spread to other centres of the same railway and that other services will become involved. The Railwaymen's Federation for several months has been threatening a general strike, demanding a cessation of discharges under the retrenchment scheme. Probably the federation will make the Madras dispute an issue throughout the country.
