Mrs. L. C. Rathbone, of Waingaro, is at Hotel Cargcn. Mrs. T. H. Lowry, of Hawkc's Bay, is at tlio Grand Hotel. Mrs. J. Fitzpatrick and Miss Fitzpatrick, of Sydney, are at the Grand Hotel. Miss Noeline Reid, of Oamaru, is the guest of 13r. and Mrs. Alan Macdonald, Mount Albert. Mrs. C. Matthews, of Hamilton, and Miss K. Bevin, of New Plymouth, are at the Central Hotel. Miss N. E. Bailey, of Epsom, who has been the guest of Mrs. A. Brett, of Takapuna, left, yesterday on a visit to Sydney. Mrs. 11. Schofield, of Matarnata, is spending an extended holiday in Hawke's Bay, and will be Hie guest of her aunts, Mrs. W. Collison, of Hastings, and Mrs. T. Holden, sen., of Gisborne. A social evening was held at Pahitoa, Waimauku, the residence of Mr. L. Foster, in aid of the Waimauku Sports Club. Ping pong was played, and a flag 500 tournament was won by Mrs. W. 11. Collins and Miss L. T.ye, and Mr. R. Jcnes. In view of her removal from Birkenhead to live at Takapuna, Miss Daisy Shepherd was entertained by the Waiteni;ita Croquet Club, to which she has belonged from its inception. The president, Mrs. E. G. Bailey, made a presentation on behalf of the members, by whom Miss Shepherd is held in high regard, as well as by the people of Birkenhead and Northcote, among whom she had grown up and resided since a girl. Miss Shepherd was also elected a life member of the croquet club in recognition of her past valuable services.
