DRIVER'S PLUCKY ACT
MOTOR-LORRY ON FIRE □ RIVEN CLEAR OF BOWSER SEVERE BURNS RECEIVED [BY TELEQRAFII—OWN CORRESPONDENT] ■OPOTIKI, Friday A young married man, Mr. J. Lindsay, was admitted io the Opotiki Hospital suffering from very severe burns on the faco and arms, received when tho cab of a motor-lorry caught fire outside the Opotiki dairy factory. Mr. Lindsay, who was employed by Mr. W. Ruff, cream contractor, had a six-ton lorry beside a bowser at the factory, and was filling tho benzine tank when, from some unexplained cause, the cab of the lorry burst into flames. With great pluck, Mr. Lindsay jumped into tho cab and backed the lorry away from tho bowser. He was severely burned by tho time he had stopped the lorry. First aid was rendered by a woman from a near by house, and Mr. Lindsay was then taken to hospital. So severe wore his burns that it will bo many months before they are completely healed. Tho fire on the lorry was soon extinguished, littlo damage being done.
