NEW SCHOONER YACHT

BUILDING IN AUCKLAND HANDSOME 75-FOOT VESSEL Work is now well forward on (he largo auxiliary schooner yacht which is being built by Mr. Colin Wild at Stanley Bay for Mr. J. W. S. McArthur, of Auckland. It is expected that the new vessel will bo ready by February and it is her owner's intention to use her for cruising to the Islands and Australia. The new yacht will have an overall length of 75ft. and a beam of 17ft., but her draught will be but 6ft. 6in. to enable her to negotiate shallow anchorages. The hull is being built of first-class kauri and the decking will be laid down in Burma teak. She is to be rigged as a staysail schooner, with a total of 2500 ft. of canvas in her cruising sails. The mainmast will be 80ft. long and the foremast. 65ft. long. The vessel will be driven by an eightcylinder Tarsoiis engine of 160 horse power. Tliere will be electric light and power for various purposes throughout the ship, including electric hot water heaters for the galley and the bathrooms. In addition to the main cabin amidships, measuring 12ft. 6in. by 16ft. 6in., there will be several small cabins, as well as accommodation for a permanent crew of two men. The yacht promises to bo a very handsome vessel.
